Various species of microalgae, which can be used as food for filter-feeding organisms and larval stages of echinoderms, and various species of macroalgae (e.g., Ulva spp., Gracilaria spp.) can be produced within the photobioreactors for the purpose of producing them in a controlled environment.

Photo B consists of 12 plexiglass photobioreactors (PBRs) with a volume of 30L intended for the production of micro and macro algae in a controlled environment.

The unit consists of two 6m PBR blocks equipped with independent lighting that can be adjusted for intensity and photoperiod. The systems are connected to three tanks (200L) for storage of the culture medium.
