Boe Osservative Ecosistemi Stagni Sardi
The net-BOESS pilot plant is a network of buoys designed to monitor the water quality of Sardinian lagoons, particularly in areas where lagoon fishing and shellfish farming are practiced. Net-BOESS comprises eight green buoys, model OxyBuoy (eTecnos SRL), equipped with sensors for oxygen, temperature, chlorophyll, pH, turbidity, salinity, and a current meter to measure the direction and intensity of sea currents.
Data collected in real time are transmitted via GSM/GPRS to a cloud storage system. Through the e-Tecnos App, each buoy can be queried from a PC, smartphone, or tablet, providing graphical analyses and reports of both real-time and historical data. In the long term, BOESS will enable the study of climate change effects and extreme events (e.g., heat waves, flash floods) in Sardinia's lagoons.
Net-BOESS is funded by the e.INS Ecosystem of Innovation for Next Generation Sardinia project (Grant No. ECS0000038 – CUP F53C22000430001) to foster the connection between research and industry in Sardinia.
