A small laboratory that facilitates the management of experimental activities in the different Units and provides a logistical base for sheltering equipment, field equipment and for initial data analysis and processing.
The laboratory-container (15 sq. m.) houses stationary and field instruments to facilitate measurements and controls in close proximity to other units:
- fine scale, digital camera, inverto-microscope
- Trinocular transmitted and reflected light stereo optical microscope equipped with 4K digital camera
- 50"-4k LED monitor; PC, digital camera and video tracking software (ANY-maze) for animal behavior
- Organism marking equipment (PIT tag) including control antennas
- Multiparameter probes, water and sediment samplers for environmental surveys
- laminar flow chemical fume hood
- Wi-Fi
- control and management unit for TARS tanks and aquariums
- Conicals unit: 9 conical tanks of 150 L each for growing juvenile sea urchin and other invertebrates with recirculation system and circular water flows
- Valvometer unit: a device for measuring the gaping and oscillations (flapping) of the valves of Bivalve molluscs (mussels, oysters, clams, cannolicchi)
- Plexiglass tubular photobioreactor with Airlift system for fluid circulation
